In 2018, filmmakers Benjamin Kegan  (Director) and Sean Webley (Cinematographer) began following professional track athlete, Peter Callahan, as he set out to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. Over the three years of production, the entire journey of an athlete was captured: from the wins and loses, injuries and recovery, and through coach Patrick McHugh’s cancer diagnosis and treatment. Less Than a Second is a portrait of the athlete-coach relationship and a wide-sweeping study of what it takes to be great.
